A member of Commission VI of the House of Representatives, Mufti\nAnam, has criticised PT Pertamina\u2019s policy of raising prices for\nnon-subsidised fuels including Pertamax Turbo, Dexlite, and Pertamina\nDex. According to Mufti, this policy contradicts the government\u2019s\npromise that there would be no fuel price increases amid oil shortages\ndue to the Middle East conflict.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, he also takes issue with the price hike without\nprior socialisation by the government. \u201cOnce again, Pertamina is raising\nfuel prices without warning, and the increase is quite significant. This\npolicy will undoubtedly burden the public greatly,\u201d said the Indonesian\nDemocratic Party of Struggle politician in his statement on Sunday, 19\nApril 2026.<\/p>\n
Based on fuel price information on the My Pertamina website, the\nprice of Pertamax Turbo with RON 98 has risen from Rp 13,100 per litre\nto Rp 19,400 per litre. The Dexlite fuel has jumped from Rp 14,200 per\nlitre to Rp 23,600 per litre. The price of Pertamina DEX has also surged\nfrom Rp 14,500 per litre to Rp 23,900 per litre.<\/p>\n
Although subsidised fuel prices have not been raised, Mufti views\nthis as a backward step because the government has failed to uphold its\ncommitment. Mufti said the government only provides false reassurance\nand then unilaterally raises fuel prices.<\/p>\n
\u201cYesterday, the public was reassured with the narrative that fuel\nprices would not rise. The people were asked to believe and stay calm,\u201d\nhe stated. \u201cIt turns out the government is truly giving false hope to\nthe people.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to Mufti, the rise in non-subsidised fuel prices, which are\nmore commonly used by middle to upper classes, will still impact all\nlayers of society, including the lower economy. Especially if subsidised\nfuel supplies in certain areas become hampered, eventually forcing the\npublic to switch to non-subsidised fuels.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is no longer about subsidised or non-subsidised. This is about\njustice for the people. And this is about the government\u2019s sensitivity\nin raising fuel prices when the people\u2019s economic conditions are not\ngood,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Mufti is puzzled that when the Strait of Hormuz energy distribution\nroute is opened, the government instead takes this extreme decision. He\nurges the government to immediately adjust prices as global conditions\nimprove. Do not wait for the people to take action before prices\nchange,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia,\nstated that the government will not raise subsidised fuel prices until\nthe end of the year. He said this decision follows the directive of\nPresident Prabowo Subianto to maintain price stability because the\nnational energy supply is still secure.<\/p>\n
