However,\nbehind this digital convenience lies a new challenge: how to make wise\nfinancial decisions amidst the flood of technological offerings.<\/p>\n
This awareness forms the basis of a strategic collaboration between\nthe Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) and Hasanuddin\nUniversity (Unhas). Through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement on\ncompetency development, research, and the dissemination of LPS\u2019s\nfunctions and roles on Friday (12\/6\/2026), both parties aim to produce a\ngeneration that is not only academically excellent but also possesses a\nstrong foundation in financial literacy.<\/p>\n
The partnership was inaugurated at Unhas\u2019s Arsjad Rasjid Lecture\nTheatre by LPS Deputy Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, Farid\nAzhar Nasution, alongside Unhas Vice Rector for Academic and Student\nAffairs, Prof.\u00a0Muhammad Ruslin. The collaboration seeks to cultivate\nsuperior human resources who are financially literate and ready to\ntransform in the digital economy era.<\/p>\n
During a public lecture held as an initial implementation, Farid\nAzhar Nasution cautioned that easy access to digital finance is a\ndouble-edged sword. \u201cHigh smartphone ownership makes it easy for us to\naccess digital financial products. However, without adequate literacy,\nthis condition can actually plunge us into various financial traps,\u201d he\nstated on Saturday (13\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n
He encouraged students to build financial awareness early on,\nencompassing integrity, discipline, and self-control. According to him,\nthe younger generation needs not only to save financially but also to\nsave character, knowledge, and networking.<\/p>\n
Beyond education and research, LPS demonstrated tangible commitment\nthrough a scholarship programme for Unhas students that has been running\nsince 2024. The programme has recorded a consistent increase in\nrecipients, with awardees coming from diverse academic backgrounds,\nincluding the Faculty of Economics and Business, Law, Mathematics and\nNatural Sciences, and Social and Political Sciences. This diversity\nunderscores that financial literacy is a cross-disciplinary\nnecessity.<\/p>\n
Prof.\u00a0Ruslin welcomed the collaboration enthusiastically, noting it\naligns with Unhas\u2019s commitment to producing graduates who are adaptive\nto industry needs and economic dynamics.
