        "content": "<p>Trade ease is not truly measured by the number of agreements signed,\nbut by how quickly goods move, how efficiently documents are processed,\nand how predictably shipping times and costs can be determined.<\/p>\n<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - BRICS has agreed upon various forms of cooperation\nto facilitate trade. However, for business actors, the benefits of such\nagreements are only felt when goods can move from one member nation to\nanother with greater ease.<\/p>\n<p>A single shipment involves many stages: the exchange of data and\ndocuments, customs inspections, payments, and the logistics process from\nthe country of origin to the destination. Without integration at every\nstage, policy-level agreements will not automatically reduce time,\ncosts, or uncertainty in trade.<\/p>\n<p>The high volume of trade makes this issue of integration increasingly\nurgent. During the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, India, Russian\nPresident Vladimir Putin revealed that the value of trade between BRICS\nmembers has reached US$1.2 trillion.<\/p>\n<p>With a scale this large, even the smallest barrier in the\ninter-country shipping process has the potential to increase the\nduration and cost of many transactions.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the primary challenge for BRICS at present is no longer\nabout adding new agreements, but rather ensuring that existing\ninstruments truly function during transactions. The focus must shift\nfrom merely making agreements to resolving real-world obstacles when\ngoods are in transit.<\/p>\n<p>Closing the gap<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia\u2019s experience with the United Arab Emirates (UAE)\ndemonstrates how an agreement can significantly transform customs\nprocesses at the border.<\/p>\n<p>The Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Authorized Economic Operators\n(MRA AEO) between Indonesia and the UAE was fully implemented on 11\nNovember 2023. This agreement serves as the foundation for providing\nsimplified customs procedures for companies that have met AEO\nrequirements.<\/p>",
