        "content": "<p>PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) projects that copper ore production from\nthe Grasberg Block Cave (GBC) underground mine will reach around 200,000\ntonnes per day in 2027. This follows the recovery of operations after\ndisruptions in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>President Director of Freeport Indonesia, Tony Wenas, stated that the\nproduction increase will be carried out gradually through a ramp-up\nprocess from 2026 to the first quarter of 2027.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurrently, we are still in the recovery process at Grasberg Block\nCave, particularly Production Block 1, which was severely impacted by\nthe landslide,\u201d he said during a Working Meeting with Commission XII of\nthe House of Representatives on Monday (13\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>He detailed that mining activities in Production Block 2 and\nProduction Block 3 are now operating on a limited basis. Meanwhile,\nProduction Block 1, which was most significantly affected, is still in\nthe recovery phase.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of production, the company projects ore mining volume to\nreach 139,000 tonnes per day in 2025, increasing to 156,000 tonnes per\nday in 2026. Production is then expected to return to normal levels of\naround 200,000 tonnes of ore per day in 2027 and continue until\n2029.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd in 2027, it will be able to reach production of around 200,000\ntonnes of ore per day, which is already our normal production level and\nwill continue until 2029 and beyond,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>For metal production, in 2026 the company targets 1.1 billion pounds\nof copper and around 26 tonnes of gold. All of this gold production is\nplanned to be absorbed by PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen, the work plan for 2027 will increase to 1.5 billion pounds of\ncopper metal and gold reaching 39 tonnes or 1.3 million ounces. In 2028,\nit will reach even higher levels of 1.7 billion pounds of copper and 43\ntonnes of gold and so on,\u201d said Tony.<\/p>",
