        "content": "<p>Indonesia\u2019s Investment Minister and mining company Freeport-McMoRan,\nalong with its Indonesian unit Freeport Indonesia, have signed a\nmemorandum of understanding to extend Freeport Indonesia\u2019s mining permit\nbeyond 2041, according to Freeport-McMoRan chairman Richard\nAdkerson.<\/p>\n<p>Adkerson spoke at a US Chamber of Commerce event in Washington on\nWednesday evening, attended by Indonesian President Prabowo\nSubianto.<\/p>\n<p>Prabowo had travelled to Washington to attend a meeting of US\nPresident Donald Trump\u2019s Presidential Peace Council and to seek lower\ntariffs in a trade deal with the United States.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want the best relationship with the United States in all areas \u2014\npolitical, economic,\u201d Prabowo said in his speech at the Chamber of\nCommerce event.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Indonesian and American companies on Wednesday signed\ntrade and investment deals worth more than US$7 billion, one day before\nIndonesian President Prabowo Subianto\u2019s meeting with US President Donald\nTrump to sign a final trade agreement, according to the US-ASEAN\nBusiness Council.<\/p>\n<p>The deals, signed at a dinner hosted by the Chamber of Commerce in\nhonour of Prabowo, included purchases by Indonesian companies of 1\nmillion metric tonnes of US soybeans, 1.6 million tonnes of maize, and\n93,000 tonnes of cotton over an unspecified period, according to a\nUS-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) fact sheet.<\/p>\n<p>It was further noted that Indonesia would purchase 1 million tonnes\nof wheat this year and up to 5 million tonnes by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>The agreements also included a memorandum of understanding between US\nmining group Freeport-McMoRan (FCX.N) and Indonesia\u2019s Investment\nMinistry for critical minerals cooperation, as well as an agreement\nbetween state oil producer Pertamina and Halliburton Co (HAL.N) to\ncollaborate on oil field recovery, the USABC said.<\/p>",
