From the mountains of Papua to the smelter in Gresik, the extended\nfamily of PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) held a Red and White flag-raising\nceremony to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of\nIndonesia under the spirit of One Freeport: From Eastern Indonesia, We\nRise Together, simultaneously at six PTFI work sites across three\nprovinces: Central Papua, East Java, and DKI Jakarta.<\/p>\n
PTFI President Director Tony Wenas acted as Ceremony Inspector at the\nTembagapura football pitch, joined by management and employees from\nKuala Kencana (Mimika Regency), PTFI\u2019s Representative Office in Nabire\n(Nabire Regency), the PTFI Smelter and PT Smelting (Gresik Regency), and\nPTFI\u2019s Jakarta office.<\/p>\n
The simultaneous ceremony symbolised the unity of the PTFI family\nfrom upstream to downstream in a single One Freeport spirit. The\nnational theme was Indonesia Berdaulat, Adil dan Makmur (A Sovereign,\nJust and Prosperous Indonesia), while PTFI\u2019s sub-theme was One Freeport:\nFrom Eastern Indonesia, We Rise Together.<\/p>\n
President Director Tony Wenas said the spirit of Rising Together for\nPTFI is reflected in the recovery process of underground mining\noperations as well as the determination of all employees to continue\ncontributing to Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\u201cFreeport Indonesia must be able to rise stronger. With the spirit of\ntogetherness, resilience, and unwavering commitment to safety, I am\nconfident we will be able to get through this period and move towards a\nbetter future for the company, workers, communities, stakeholders, and\nfor the nation and state,\u201d Tony said in a written statement on Monday\n(17\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s independence commemoration holds special meaning for\nPTFI. Since beginning operations in 1973, PTFI has never missed holding\na Red and White flag-raising ceremony as a form of respect for the\nstruggle of heroes and as a manifestation of commitment as part of the\nIndonesian nation. Entering its 53rd year, this year\u2019s ceremony became a\nmomentum to affirm the spirit of unity and mutual cooperation of the\nPTFI family.<\/p>\n
According to Tony, this spirit is even stronger because PTFI is a\nlarge family of more than 30,000 employees from various regions,\nethnicities, religions, and cultures across Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis diversity is our strength. With various ethnic groups from\nSabang to Merauke, and from Miangas to Rote, though tested many times,\nby God\u2019s grace, we have not been torn apart, but have become even more\nclosely united, even more solid as one big family, One Freeport,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Amid the recovery process, there are a number of important\nachievements demonstrating PTFI\u2019s commitment to continue investing and\ngrowing with Indonesia in the long term. Tony said that thanks to the\nhard work of the entire team and support from various parties,\nproduction capacity is projected to reach around 65 per cent by the end\nof the second half of this year. PTFI is targeting production of around\n800 million pounds of copper and 700 thousand ounces of gold.<\/p>\n
\u201cGoing forward, production capacity is expected to increase to around\n75 per cent by mid-2027, and gradually approach full production capacity\nby the end of 2027,\u201d Tony said.<\/p>\n
The operational recovery is important not only for the sustainability\nof the company\u2019s activities, but also for the sustainability of PTFI\u2019s\ncontribution to the state. Throughout 2025, PTFI contributed Rp75\ntrillion to the state, including around Rp13 trillion which is the share\nof the Mimika Regency government, Central Papua Province and other\nregencies in Central Papua.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis contribution reflects our unwavering commitment to providing\nreal benefits for the state and society, despite the various challenges\nwe face. And when we eventually reach 100 per cent production capacity,\nPTFI\u2019s contribution to the state will reach more than Rp100 trillion per\nyear,\u201d Tony said.<\/p>\n
