Free political prisoners: Dita<\/p>\n
TANGERANG, West Java: Jailed labor activist Dita Indahsari
\nurged the Habibie administration yesterday to free all political
\nprisoners without exception.<\/p>\n
She claimed to have heard that more political detainees would
\nbe released but said the government had yet to demonstrate its
\ncommitment to doing so.<\/p>\n
Dita is currently serving a five year sentence in Tangerang
\nprison for women. She was jailed by Surabaya district court in
\n1996 after being found guilty of subversion.<\/p>\n
She said that if freed, she would remain faithful to the
\nDemocratic People's Party (PRD), which was banned by president
\nSoeharto. Its key leaders have all been jailed.<\/p>\n
She said she believed the economic crisis would continue until
\nIndonesia had a democratically elected government. The incumbent
\nHabibie, she said, was not credible to Indonesians or the
\ninternational community because he was appointed by his
