The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has decided to temporarily halt\nthe distribution of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme during the\nschool holidays. The policy is intended to allow for a thorough overhaul\nof the programme\u2019s implementation, including an audit of all MBG\nkitchens.<\/p>\n
Wakil Kepala BGN Agustina Arumsari stated that the school break would\nbe used to evaluate various aspects of the MBG programme so that it can\nrun more effectively once teaching and learning activities resume. \u201cWe\nare also taking advantage of this school holiday momentum. We will stop\neverything, we will audit all kitchens, so that hopefully when the\nchildren return to school, conditions on the ground will be better and\nmore orderly,\u201d Agustina said after a working meeting with Commission IX\nof the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Jakarta on Monday\n(15\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n
Agustina confirmed that the suspension only applies during the school\nholiday period. During this time, BGN will focus on making improvements\nacross various supporting sectors. \u201cYes, stop. For the duration of the\nschool holidays, while we carry out improvements,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n
According to Agustina, the kitchen audit is part of the corrective\nmeasures currently being undertaken by BGN. In addition to evaluating\nkitchen quality, the agency will also improve internal governance, human\nresources (SDM), and the data system for beneficiaries. She considers\naccurate data to be crucial so that every policy taken is truly on\ntarget. \u201cWe will carry out a transformation, starting from human\nresources, governance, to data. It is impossible for us to make policy\nwithout clear data,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, BGN has begun coordinating with various ministries and\ninstitutions that already possess beneficiary databases. This step is\nbeing taken to refine the data before the programme is relaunched. On\nanother front, BGN is also refocusing or sharpening the targeting of MBG\nbeneficiaries. This policy is designed to ensure nutritional\ninterventions are more precisely targeted by prioritising the groups\nmost in need, while simultaneously increasing budget efficiency.<\/p>\n
Agustina stressed that BGN\u2019s main focus at present is ensuring\nbeneficiaries truly match the target criteria, while the restructuring\nof kitchens is a subsequent impact of that policy. \u201cWe are talking about\nbeneficiaries first, then the impact is kitchens and so forth.
