        "content": "<p>BOGOR, KOMPAS.com \u2014 Thirteen foreign nationals from Japan who carried\nout online fraud against fellow Japanese have impersonated police\nofficers to carry out their actions. \u2018The 13 foreign nationals have been\nidentified as Japanese nationals who are suspected of engaging in cyber\nactivities, including online scamming in the form of extortion using\nattributes of the Japanese police, conducted in an organised manner,\u2019\nsaid Acting Director General of Immigration Yuldi Yusman at the Bogor\nImmigration Office, on Wednesday (4 March 2026). Yuldi explained that\nthe online fraud had been taking place since February 2026. Dozen of\nforeign nationals operated from three houses in the Babakan Madang\nDistrict, Bogor Regency. \u2018The modus operandi of the group was to\nimpersonate staff from a telecommunications provider named NTT Docomo,\u2019\nYuldi said. During the arrest, Immigration authorities found scripts\nused by the perpetrators to intimidate, stating the victim was an\nillegal subscriber, fake contracts, or forged identities. The\nperpetrators directed victims to make video calls via the LINE app.\nThen, the perpetrators used a simulated police radio voice to make the\nvictims believe. \u2018Then the perpetrators used a simulated police radio\nvoice to reinforce and ensure that it appeared the person was from the\nJapanese police,\u2019 he said. The perpetrators then directed victims to\naccess a fake website portal and displayed a fake arrest warrant. The\nwarrant contained the victim\u2019s name, the charges, and the stamp of a\nJapanese court. \u2018Victims were directed to access the fake portal and\nview the arrest warrant or Taihoji marked with an emergency arrest,\ncomplete with the victim\u2019s name, the charges, the judge\u2019s name and a red\nstamp resembling the Japanese court,\u2019 Yuldi explained. Subsequently, the\nvictims were asked to show their savings books and bank details. \u2018And\nfinally, the perpetrators directed victims to sell shares and\ninvestments, liquidate funds, and make large transfers,\u2019 he said. The 13\nforeign nationals were arrested at three different houses. Eight were\narrested on Jalan Parahyangan Golf Blok G76 and G78, five more at Jalan\nBukit Golf Hijau Raya No.\u00a04. At the arrests, Bogor Immigration secured\nevidence including dozens of devices, more than a dozen routers, the\nforeign nationals\u2019 passports, residence permits, four Japanese police\nuniforms, and digital documents including scripts and operational\nmanuals for the fraud. Meanwhile, Bogor Immigration Office Head Ritus\nRamadhana said the Immigration authorities were still in contact with\nthe Japanese Consulate to deport the 13 perpetrators.
