        "content": "<p>Fraser pays courtesy call on Mega<\/p>\n<p>Former Australian prime minister Malcolm Fraser paid a<br>\ncourtesy call on President Megawati Soekarnoputri on<br>\nWednesday, in which they discussed various issues, including the<br>\nIraqi crisis.<\/p>\n<p>During the 30-minute meeting, Fraser briefed Megawati on a<br>\ntwo-day conference attended by former heads of state that called<br>\nfor a peaceful solution to the Iraqi crisis.<\/p>\n<p>\"He was just telling the President that the meeting opposed<br>\nunilateral acts from the U.S. in dealing with the crisis, which<br>\nignored the role of United Nations,\" Indonesian Minister for<br>\nForeign Affairs Hassan Wirayuda said after accompanying Megawati<br>\nduring the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The United States and Britain are building up their military<br>\nstrength in the Middle East to attack Iraq for allegedly<br>\nproducing and storing weapons of mass destruction.<\/p>\n<p>Fraser told Megawati that he was against the decision of<br>\nAustralian Prime Minister John Howard to send troops to assist<br>\nthe United States in disarming Iraqi President Saddam Husein.<\/p>\n<p>Coordinating Minister for Social Welfare Jusuf Kalla also<br>\naccompanied Megawati during the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Fraser was among four former heads of state who attended the<br>\nmeeting of the InterAction Council here from March 11 through<br>\nMarch 12. Former president B.J. Habibie, former Dutch prime<br>\nminister Andreas van Agt and former Ecuadorian president Jamil<br>\nMahuad also attended.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting recommended on Wednesday that the Iraqi crisis be<br>\nsolved peacefully and through the United Nations. --JP<\/p>",
