Four trucks plunge into river<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Four box trucks plunged into the Opak river in
\nWest Jakarta Wednesday after a riverbank collapsed. No fatalities
\nwere reported.<\/p>\n
A police officer of the West Jakarta Police precinct said the
\nlandslide was caused by dredging work in the river.<\/p>\n
\"The total losses have not yet been calculated,\" the officer
\nwho asked anonymity said. No official information was released as
\nto the content of the boxes.<\/p>\n
The trucks, which had stopped at the river's edge, slowly sank
\ninto the river as the edge collapsed, the officer said.<\/p>\n
Local residents said that the river was enlarged a week ago,
\nbut the way the riverbank had been built up probably incorrect.
\n\"The riverbank looked so soft that it was not surprising it could
\nnot stand four truck on it,\" a resident who eyewitnessed the
\naccident, said.<\/p>\n
It took hours for rescue workers to pull the four trucks out
