JAKARTA (JP): Four men were killed in four separate incidents
\nMonday morning in West Jakarta, South Jakarta and North Jakarta.<\/p>\n
City Police Spokesman Lt. Col. E. Aritonang said Monday that
\nin the first incident on Jl. Kampung Sawah, Cengkareng, West
\nJakarta an unemployed man was beaten to death by locals for
\nbreaking into a cigarette stall.<\/p>\n
Aat, 25, and two accomplices identified only as Ron, 24, and
\nDn, 21, broke into the stall at about 2 a.m., said Aritonang.<\/p>\n
\"An officer of the roving security system patrolling the area
\nsaw what was happening and called out to the thieves,\" he said.<\/p>\n
He said the officer then called locals to help when the men
\ntried to escape.<\/p>\n
Aritonang said Aat and Ron were caught and mobbed. \"But Dn
\nmanaged to escape,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Aat, a resident of Jl. Kampung Kapuk, West Jakarta, died
\ninstantly in the attack, he said.<\/p>\n
Ron was rushed to Kramatjati Police Hospital with serious
\ninjuries, he said.<\/p>\n
Aritonang said police believed the men had burgled the same
\nstall last month.<\/p>\n
Still in West Jakarta, the body of a twenty-year-old man
\ndumped on Jl. Kalianyar, in Tambora, West Jakarta. Police were
\ntreating it as a murder at this stage because he had bruises to
\nhis head, Aritonang said.<\/p>\n
Witnesses told police that Amin's body was dumped on the
\nstreet from a passing bajaj (three wheeled taxi) early in the
\nmorning.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, on Jl. Bukit Duri Tanjakan, in Tebet, South Jakarta
\na man died instantly after he was pushed off a train at about 8
\na.m., Aritonang said.<\/p>\n
\"Feri, 22, got angry and pushed Hairudin, 23, out off the
\ntrain because Hairudin had stepped on his foot,\" a police officer
\nat South Jakarta Police precinct said. Feri is a private bank
\nemployee.<\/p>\n
The officer said the passengers arrested Feri and took him to
\na nearby police station.<\/p>\n
Yesterday, the police shot dead a man who had stolen a woman's
\ngold necklace on Sunday night, in Penjagalan, North Jakarta. The
\nman was shot because he had tried to resist arrest, Aritonang
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
He said police began a search for Ratno when Mirnawati
\nreported the theft.<\/p>\n
\"The police shot Ratno, who was still in the area, after
\nfiring two warning shots,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Ratno had been wanted by police for a long time.<\/p>\n
The police have shot dead more than 20 people since January,
\nall for resisting arrest.<\/p>\n
Police shot and killed at least 46 people last year for the
