        "content": "<p>Four injured in attack on protesters<\/p>\n<p>SEMARANG, Central Java: A demonstration held by the Democratic<br>\nFront for Poverty Eradication (FDPRM) turned violent on Monday<br>\nwhen the group was attacked by dozens of people claiming to be<br>\nmembers of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI<br>\nPerjuangan)<\/p>\n<p>Two demonstrators, a plainclothes police officer and a local<br>\nphotojournalist were injured in the violence.<\/p>\n<p>The incident occurred when demonstrators read out a speech<br>\ncriticizing the failure of President Megawati Soekarnoputri to<br>\neradicate poverty and her inclination to ask for foreign loans.<\/p>\n<p>The attackers also seized other journalists' equipment,<br>\nincluding their cameras, to stop them from covering the incident,<br>\nwhile the police -- who arrived at the scene two hours later --<br>\nstood by and did nothing.<\/p>\n<p>Following the incident, about 20 journalists filed a complain<br>\nwith the police, saying that attacking journalists was in<br>\nviolation of the law. -- JP<\/p>",
