        "content": "<p>The Environmental Agency (DLH) of Semarang City is tightening fire\nprevention efforts at the Jatibarang Final Processing Site (TPA). Over\nthe past month, a joint team has detected and extinguished four fire\nhotspots at the location.<\/p>\n<p>Head of Semarang City DLH, Glory Nasarani, said personnel have been\nstationed to monitor the potential emergence of fire hotspots at the\nJatibarang TPA. \u201cWe do not want to take even the slightest risk. Field\nteams conduct routine patrols every 4 to 6 hours across all vulnerable\nzones, accompanied by periodic watering by the Semarang City Fire\nDepartment every two days, as well as an on-call system with a response\ntime of under 15 minutes,\u201d she said in a statement on Saturday\n(15\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>She revealed that Semarang City DLH has prepared eight water\ninjection pipe points into the waste piles to address potential\nsubsurface fires. In addition, officers carry out methane gas flaring\ndaily, spray biodecomposer, gradually apply soil cover to active and\npassive zones, and monitor the area using drones.<\/p>\n<p>For initial handling, Glory said a water reserve of approximately 230\ncubic metres has been prepared. TPA tanker trucks, portable pumps, water\nhoses, and light fire extinguishers (APAR) are in ready-to-use\ncondition.<\/p>\n<p>According to Glory, the early response readiness has been tested by\nfour fire hotspot incidents that emerged after the Jatibarang TPA fire\ndisaster preparedness roll call on 9 July 2026. The hotspots were\ndetected both inside and around the TPA area and were successfully\nhandled by a joint team consisting of TPA officers, firefighters,\nsub-district officials, police, military, and residents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFour fire hotspot incidents were successfully handled quickly thanks\nto collaboration between TPA officers, firefighters, sub-district\nofficials, the military, police, and local residents. Logistical support\nfor water as well as tanker fleets and APAR on site are also ready to\ncarry out initial handling,\u201d said Glory.<\/p>",
