Four excluded from PSSI core team<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): National soccer team head coach Nandar Iskandar
\nhas excluded four players from his core squad lineup for the 2000
\nAsian Cup in Lebanon next week.<\/p>\n
The four players excluded are goalkeeper Sahari Gultom,
\nWarsidi, Yaris Riyadi and a striker whom he would decide on
\nlater. But he added that the four players would still be taken to
\nLebanon as substitutes.<\/p>\n
\"They will replace players who sustain injuries during the
\nmatch,\" Nandar was quoted by spokesman of the Soccer Association
\nof Indonesia (PSSI), Eddi Elison, as saying on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Nandar would take a 22-strong team to the cup final. Indonesia
\njoins the continent's soccer giants South Korea, China and Kuwait
\nin Group B. The national team will meet Kuwait in the first group
\nmatch on Oct. 13 in Tripoli, Lebanon.<\/p>\n
He reached the decision after observing his players'
\nperformance against an amateur team from the Netherlands during a
\nseries of warm-up tournaments. The Indonesian team routed its
\npractice partner 9-0.<\/p>\n
Strikers, Bambang Pamungkas and Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto,
\nmidfielders, Seto Nurdiantoro and Uston Nawawi contributed two
\ngoals each while another striker Gendut Doni kicked one.<\/p>\n
Nandar did not name the routed team but the match was played
\nas a preparation for the Indonesian team's friendly match against
\nfirst division A side Dordricht later on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
During its upcoming match against Dordricht, Nandar said he
\nhad instructed his players to make rapid counterattacks and
\nmaintain a solid defense. He said he had encouraged his players
\nto improvise.<\/p>\n
He expressed hope that the tactics would work well because the
\nother Group members were known for their speed and powerful play.<\/p>\n
Indonesia will face the Netherlands' top club, NAC Breda in
