Four attempts to smuggle narcotics into the Jakarta Narcotics Prison\n(Lapas Narkotika) and the Central Jakarta Class I Detention Centre\n(Rutan Salemba) were foiled by officers in a single day.<\/p>\n
According to a release received on Tuesday (16\/6\/2026), the smuggling\nattempts occurred on Monday (15\/6). Two cases were uncovered by officers\nat the Narcotics Prison through rigorous checks at the Main Security\nGate (P2U). In the first case, officers apprehended a perpetrator\ncarrying two packages suspected to contain narcotics with a total weight\nof 8.72 grams. In the second case, officers found two more packages\nsuspected to contain narcotics weighing a total of 20.30 grams. Initial\ninvestigations revealed both perpetrators used the same method, hiding\nthe packages in their intimate body parts to evade detection.<\/p>\n
On the same day, officers at the Salemba Detention Centre also foiled\ntwo smuggling attempts using different methods. The first case involved\na female visitor, identified by the initials NA (22), who attempted to\nsmuggle liquid Etomidate by disguising it in a cough medicine bottle.\nOfficers became suspicious after noticing the contents did not match the\nlabel and emitted an unusual odour. In the second case, female officers\ndiscovered a package of methamphetamine weighing approximately 40.1\ngrams neatly concealed inside the hair bun of another female visitor,\nidentified by the initials MU (39).<\/p>\n
All perpetrators and evidence have been secured and handed over to\nthe police for legal proceedings and further investigation.<\/p>\n
Head of the DKI Jakarta Regional Office of the Directorate General of\nCorrections, Wachid Wibowo, stated that the successful uncovering of\nfour smuggling cases in one night demonstrates the strong commitment of\ncorrectional staff to creating a drug-free environment in prisons and\ndetention centres.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe success of officers in foiling four drug smuggling attempts\nalmost simultaneously is proof that the security system, early\ndetection, and supervision in all DKI Jakarta Correctional Units are\nfunctioning well. I give the highest appreciation to all officers who\nremain alert, professional, and uphold integrity in carrying out their\nduties,\u201d said Wachid.<\/p>\n
Wachid emphasised that the DKI Jakarta Regional Office of Corrections\nwill not provide any space for the circulation of drugs or other\nprohibited items inside prisons and detention centres.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are fully committed to implementing the directives of the\nMinister of Immigration and Corrections and the Director General of\nCorrections to realise Zero Halinar (zero narcotics, illegal mobile\nphones, and extortion). Every smuggling attempt will be dealt with\nfirmly according to the law.
