Decent housing, healthcare services, access to education, and waste\nand environmental management have become the four key aspects\nhighlighted during the 2026 Batch II Regional Java-Bali Outstanding\nLocal Government Appreciation held at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention\nCentre, Badung, Bali, on Friday (28\/8).<\/p>\n
In Batch II, the awards focused on four categories: the\nImplementation of the 3 Million Houses Programme, Access and Quality of\nHealthcare Services, Resident Access to Education Services, and Waste\nManagement and Environmental Cleanliness. The Minister of Home Affairs,\nMuhammad Tito Karnavian, stated that these four categories are directly\nrelated to the basic needs of the community and the improvement of\ncitizens\u2019 quality of life.<\/p>\n
Tito expressed hope that these awards could serve as a catalyst for\nlocal governments to continuously improve performance, create\ninnovations, and share best practices that can be implemented in other\nregions. \u201cThis activity serves as a means to motivate regions to\ncontinuously enhance their performance,\u201d said Tito during the event.<\/p>\n
The Mayor of South Tangerang, Benyamin Davnie, assessed that these\nfour aspects are directly linked to the programmes implemented by the\ncity government. He stated that regional policies are directed towards\naddressing the needs of the community. \u201cWe are committed to ensuring all\nlocal government programmes are directed towards the needs of the\npeople,\u201d said Benyamin.<\/p>\n
In the housing sector, South Tangerang is implementing a programme to\nimprove uninhabitable houses through house renovation. In 2026, 329\nhouses across seven sub-districts have been completed. Each house\nreceived an intervention valued at Rp75 million in the form of building\nmaterials and labour costs. The programme is prioritised for low-income\ncommunities, the poor, and people with unproductive disabilities.<\/p>\n
Benyamin stated that the programme does not merely repair buildings,\nbut ensures that the community obtains more decent, healthy, and safe\nhousing.<\/p>\n
In the healthcare sector, the South Tangerang City Government relies\non \u2018Ngider Sehat Premium\u2019, a mobile service developed from the \u2018Ngider\nSehat\u2019 programme initiated in 202ability. The service, developed in late\n2025, is supported by doctors and vehicles equipped with examination\ndevices such as USG and ECG. The primary targets include the elderly,\npregnant women, toddlers, persons with disabilities, patients with\nchronic diseases, and citizens with limited mobility.<\/p>\n
This approach brings healthcare services closer to the community,\nincluding through early screening and monitoring of vulnerable\ngroups.<\/p>\n
Education presents another challenge alongside the growth of South\nTangerang. Population and residential area development have led to an\nincreasing need for public facilities, including schools. Therefore,\nimproving access to education is not only about the number of schools or\nclassrooms but also about ensuring that urban growth does not reduce\nchildren\u2019s opportunities to obtain a proper education. Education itself\nis part of the minimum service standards that the government must\nfulfil.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, waste management remains an issue felt directly by the\ncommunity. The South Tangerang City Government still needs to strengthen\nmanagement from upstream to downstream, starting from waste reduction\nand sorting, collection, processing, to solutions for reducing the\nburden on landfills.<\/p>\n
