Foundation trains local traders<\/p>\n
BEKASI (JP): The Indonesian Skills Foundation, a joint
\nAustralian-Indonesian organization, is holding a three-day
\ntraining course for 45 small-scale merchants of Cikarang Baru
\nmarket, in Bekasi.<\/p>\n
The foundation's secretary general, Gatot Sularto, said the
\ncourse, which started yesterday, is aiming to improve management
\nskills of the local traders so they could better compete in the
\nglobalization era.<\/p>\n
\"The traders will be trained, among other things, on how to
\nmake a proposal to get a bank loan to develop their business,\"
\nGatot said.<\/p>\n
He said the trainers for the course are from Jakarta's
\nmanpower office and the privately run Bank Internasional
\nIndonesia (BII).<\/p>\n
The foundation was founded jointly in 1995 by Lend Lease
\nCorporation of Australia and the Sinar Mas Group (which owns
\nBII).<\/p>\n
Early this year, the foundation trained merchants of Pasar
\nMinggu market in South Jakarta and Cipulir market in Tangerang.<\/p>\n
The foundation is chaired by former Indonesian ambassador to
\nAustralia Sabam Siagian. (jun)<\/p>",
