        "content": "<p>Fostering friendship<\/p>\n<p>Flipping through several programs on private television <br>\nstations, I caught sight of a program titled Messages from <br>\nAmerican Muslims Institution for Friendship, which was probably <br>\nintended to foster friendship among Muslims in America and <br>\nIndonesia, or which, perhaps, depicts harmonious relationships <br>\nand understanding between Muslims and non-Muslims in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Conceptually, this seems challenging to us: \"Strong efforts <br>\ntoward creating harmony among religious societies, and perhaps <br>\nAmerica is making efforts to create peace in the world.\"<\/p>\n<p>With regard to the U.S., this country, the world's only super <br>\npower and the world's police officer, should, logically or <br>\nsensibly -- and also with super speed-- put pressure on Israel to <br>\ngive the Palestinians their rights by having UN forces deployed <br>\nto prevent the Jews and Palestinians from killing, slaughtering <br>\nand hating each other.<\/p>\n<p>In line with these efforts, the American Muslims Institution <br>\nshould ideally air programs non-stop to Israelis and Palestinians <br>\non Israeli, Kuwaiti and Turkish TV stations. These non-stop <br>\nmessages would be sure to create friendship among them and would <br>\nhelp the Americans in general create peace and stability in the <br>\nMiddle East.<\/p>\n<p>Enough is enough, lots of innocent lives have been lost. To <br>\nthe majority of the civilized world, perpetuating the <br>\nPalestinian-Israeli conflict is akin to bringing shame on the <br>\nexistence of the world's police officer.<\/p>\n<p>Many people underestimate the irrational capabilities of <br>\nsuicide bombers and many perhaps cannot help but think why they <br>\ncarry out suicidal attacks. Palestinians, American Muslims and <br>\nIsraelis are all God's children -- they are all human beings who <br>\nbelieve in their Holy Books. All of these books teach about <br>\nfriendship and brotherhood. The use of force in eradicating <br>\nterrorism without giving the Palestinians their rights will not <br>\nwipe out terrorists.<\/p>\n<p>SUNGKOWO SOKAWERA<\/p>\n<p>Bandung<\/p>",
