The Clean Southeast Sulawesi Coalition has reported former Governor Nur Alam to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) over alleged corruption involving the takeover and budgeting of regional funds for Southeast Sulawesi University (Unsultra). The complaint accuses Alam of abusing authority and conflicts of interest by establishing a new foundation in 2010 to manage the university's assets while serving as governor and chair of the foundation's board, leading to the allocation of approximately Rp12 billion in provincial budget from 2014 to 2021 for a private university under his influence. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed that all public reports are treated confidentially but will be verified and pursued if they meet corruption criteria, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat misuse of public funds in regional governance.",

The
foundation was originally established by the regional government.

They also suspect that provincial APBD funds for Sultra from 2014 to
2021 were allocated for the development and procurement of assets for
the private university, valued at around Rp12 billion.

“Capital expenditure should be used for regional government
activities, not for assets of a higher education institution under the
auspices of a foundation owned by Nur Alam and associates,” he said.

When confirmed, KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that public
reports are confidential information that cannot be disclosed.

However, Budi assured that every report received by the KPK will be
followed up.

“A public complaint is confidential or excluded information.
Therefore, on this occasion, we cannot confirm whether there is or is
not a public complaint. But certainly, we emphasise that every public
complaint received by the KPK will be followed up,” Budi said.

He explained that the KPK will verify every report received.
Subsequently, it will be examined in terms of the substance of the
report to determine if it constitutes alleged criminal acts of
corruption and falls under the KPK’s authority.

“If those elements are present, then the public complaint will
progress further,” he said.
",
