The defendant in the alleged corruption case involving tourism grants\nto Sleman regency in 2020, Sri Purnomo, has been sentenced by the Public\nProsecutor (JPU) to 8 years and 6 months\u2019 imprisonment and a fine of 500\nmillion rupiah, with an alternative of 3 months\u2019 imprisonment.<\/p>\n
The prosecution\u2019s charges were presented by prosecutors Kusuma Eka\nMahendra Rahardjo and Rindi Atmoko during a hearing at the District\nCourt (PN) in Yogyakarta on 13 March. The hearing, scheduled for 09:00\nWIB, was delayed until 13:00 WIB due to document completion issues.<\/p>\n
In their prosecution brief, the prosecutors stated that Sri Purnomo\nhad not been proven beyond reasonable doubt to have committed corruption\nas charged under the primary count. This referred to Article 2 Paragraph\n(1) in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 on\nCorruption Eradication, as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001, in\nconjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) First Subsection of the\nCriminal Code.<\/p>\n
\u201cFirst, we declare the defendant has not been proven beyond\nreasonable doubt to have committed corruption as charged under the\nprimary count,\u201d stated the prosecutor in the courtroom at PN Yogyakarta\non Friday 13 March 2026.<\/p>\n
\u201cSecond, we acquit the defendant from the primary count as stated\nabove,\u201d the prosecutor continued.<\/p>\n
However, the prosecutors found Sri Purnomo guilty beyond reasonable\ndoubt of committing corruption as charged under the subsidiary count.\nThe prosecutors requested the court to sentence the defendant to 8 years\nand 6 months\u2019 imprisonment and a fine of 500 million rupiah.<\/p>\n
This referred to Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law\nNumber 31 of 1999 on Corruption Eradication, as amended by Law Number 20\nof 2001, in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) First Subsection\nof the Criminal Code.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe request the court to impose a sentence of 8 years and 6 months\u2019\nimprisonment and a fine of 500 million rupiah; if the fine is not paid,\nthe sentence shall be replaced with 3 months\u2019 imprisonment,\u201d stated the\nprosecutor.<\/p>\n
Additionally, the prosecutors also sought Sri Purnomo pay restitution\nof 10,952,457,030 rupiah, corresponding to the state losses in this\ncase.<\/p>\n
Under the conditions that if, within one month of the court decision\nbecoming final and binding, the defendant fails to pay the restitution,\ntheir assets may be seized by the prosecutor and auctioned to cover the\nrestitution amount.<\/p>\n
\u201cShould the defendant not have sufficient assets to pay the\nrestitution, the defendant shall be sentenced to 4 years and 3 months\u2019\nimprisonment,\u201d stated the prosecutor.<\/p>\n
In response to the prosecution\u2019s charges, Sri Purnomo\u2019s legal team\nstated they would present their defence. The judge announced that the\ndefence hearing would be held after the Eid holidays.<\/p>\n
