        "content": "<p>The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has granted a suspension\nof detention to former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas.\nThe suspension was issued because Yaqut requires hospital treatment for\na digestive tract illness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, Wednesday (24\/6), investigators suspended the detention of\nsuspect YCQ. The suspension was carried out based on the results of a\nmedical examination which required the individual to undergo inpatient\ncare at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital,\u201d KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo\ntold reporters on Wednesday (24\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBased on medical information, the individual is suffering from a\ndigestive tract ailment,\u201d Budi continued.<\/p>\n<p>Budi stated that this suspension of detention is the suspect\u2019s right\nto obtain healthcare. He also confirmed that investigators will continue\nto supervise Yaqut during the suspension period.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis suspension is to ensure the basic rights of a suspect remain\nfulfilled,\u201d said Budi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInvestigators will continue to monitor his health progress, while\nalso ensuring the investigation process proceeds as it should,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n<p>In this hajj quota corruption case, the KPK has named four suspects,\nall of whom have been detained. They are: former Religious Affairs\nMinister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas; Yaqut\u2019s former special staff member,\nIshfah Abidal Azis alias Gus Alex; the Operational Director of PT\nMakassar Toraja (Maktour), Ismail Adham; and the Chairman of the\nKesthuri Association, Asrul Azis Taba.<\/p>\n<p>The KPK suspects that Ismail and Asrul gave money to Yaqut in his\ncapacity as former Religious Affairs Minister. The money was allegedly\nhanded over through an intermediary, Yaqut\u2019s former special staff\nmember, Gus Alex.<\/p>\n<p>Ismail is suspected of giving USD 30,000 to Gus Alex. Ismail is also\nalleged to have handed over USD 5,000 to the former Director General of\nHajj and Umrah at the Ministry of Religious Affairs in 2024, Hilman\nLatief.<\/p>\n<p>The KPK stated that state losses in this case amount to Rp 622\nbillion. This figure is the result of calculations by the Supreme Audit\nAgency (BPK).<\/p>",
