        "content": "<p>The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has diverted the\ndetention of former Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Yaqut Cholil\nQoumas, who is a suspect in the Hajj quota corruption case, to house\narrest.<\/p>\n<p>KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the switch in Yaqut\u2019s\nstatus to house arrest has been in effect since 19 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInvestigators have changed the type of detention for suspect YCQ,\nfrom detention at the KPK Branch State Detention House to house arrest,\nsince Thursday, 19 March 2026 evening,\u201d Budi told reporters on Saturday,\n21 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that Yaqut\u2019s family requested the KPK on 17 March 2026\nto change the type of detention for the Hajj quota case suspect.<\/p>\n<p>Following that, he said the KPK reviewed the request and granted it,\nconsidering Article 108 paragraphs (1) and (11) of Law No.\u00a020 of 2025 on\nthe Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).<\/p>\n<p>Article 108 paragraph (1) of the KUHAP regulates that types of\ndetention consist only of detention at a detention centre, house, and\ncity. Meanwhile, Article 108 paragraph (11) regulates that changing the\ntype of detention can be done based on an investigation order letter,\nwith copies provided to the suspect, the suspect\u2019s family, and relevant\ninstitutions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIts implementation involves temporarily changing the type of his\ndetention,\u201d he revealed.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, he assured that the KPK will continue close supervision\nand security for Yaqut after he becomes a temporary house detainee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe assure that this temporary detention switch process complies with\nthe provisions and procedures for investigation and detention of a\nsuspect. Likewise, the handling of this case will continue to proceed in\naccordance with applicable laws and regulations,\u201d he confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>It is known that Yaqut was named as one of the suspects in the\nalleged corruption case related to Indonesia\u2019s Hajj quota for 2023-2024\nby the KPK on 9 January 2026.<\/p>\n<p>On 12 March 2026, the KPK detained Yaqut at the KPK\u2019s Red White\nBuilding Branch State Detention House after his pre-trial was rejected\non 11 March 2026.
