        "content": "<p>The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has suspended the\ndetention of suspect Yaqut Cholil Qoumas (YCQ) in the alleged hajj quota\ncorruption case due to illness. \u201cToday, Wednesday, 24 June 2026,\ninvestigators suspended the detention of suspect YCQ. The suspension was\ncarried out based on the results of a medical examination which required\nthe individual to undergo inpatient treatment at the Kramat Jati Police\nHospital, Jakarta,\u201d said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists\nin Jakarta on Wednesday, 24 June 2026. Budi further stated that based on\nmedical information received by the KPK, the former Minister of\nReligious Affairs is suffering from a digestive tract ailment.\nTherefore, he said the suspension for Yaqut was carried out to ensure\nthe basic rights of a suspect remain fulfilled. \u201cInvestigators will\ncontinue to monitor his health condition while ensuring the\ninvestigation process proceeds as it should,\u201d he confirmed. The KPK\nannounced the commencement of an investigation into the alleged\ncorruption case concerning Indonesia\u2019s hajj quota for 2023-2024 on 9\nAugust 2025. On 9 January 2026, the KPK named former Minister of\nReligious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas and his special staff member,\nIshfah Abidal Aziz alias Gus Alex, as suspects. Meanwhile, Fuad Hasan\nMasyhur was not named a suspect in the case, although he had previously\nbeen placed on a travel ban. The KPK subsequently received the audit\nresults from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) on 27 February 2026, which\nstated that the potential state loss in the case reached Rp622 billion.\nThe KPK then detained Yaqut on 12 March 2026 at the KPK Detention Centre\nBranch of the Merah Putih Building, while Ishfah was detained on 17\nMarch 2026.
