        "content": "<p>Former regent gets travel ban<\/p>\n<p>MEDAN, North Sumatra: Facing charges of embezzling public<br>\nfunds, former Langkat regent Zulkifli Harahap is seeking the<br>\nattorney general's permission to leave the country for medical<br>\ntreatment in Beijing, Antara reported on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Anwar Dirham, an official at the North Sumatra provincial<br>\nprosecutor's office, said dossiers on Zulkifli had been submitted<br>\nto the Stabat District Court for trial in the near future.<\/p>\n<p>Zulkifli, along with Zulpan Hasibuan and Suyitno, two<br>\nofficials of the Langkat regency administration, are suspected of<br>\nembezzling Rp 4 billion (US$570,000) during his tenure from 1993<br>\nto 1998.<\/p>\n<p>Zulkifli is being treated in a hospital in Jakarta.
