Several figures and former cadres from the National Mandate Party\n(PAN) and some from the Ummah Party have declared their joining of the\nUnited Development Party (PPP) in Sleman Regency. They aim for PPP to\nform at least one faction in the Sleman DPRD in the upcoming\nelections.<\/p>\n
Declaration committee chairman Dodik Ariyanto stated that they are\nnot arriving as an \u2018empty wagon\u2019. According to him, the joining cadres\nare core officials from their previous parties.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe who are present here are not an empty wagon. In our old party, we\nalready held strategic positions, from chairman, treasurer, secretary,\nto branch and sub-branch chairmen,\u201d Dodik told reporters after the\ndeclaration in Jombor, Sleman, on Sunday (19\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n
He said that this shift is not a sudden decision. Communication and\ncoordination with various parties, including party seniors, have been\nongoing for the past several months.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is not sudden. We have been interacting and coordinating for\nseveral months. Today we are determined to migrate and make PPP our new\nhome,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Dodik added that the main reason for joining PPP is the similarity in\nvision and mission, as well as the desire to seek new challenges. He\nassessed that opportunities for cadres to advance as legislators in PPP\nremain wide open.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo this is fundamentally about similarity in vision and mission. In\nPPP, the opportunities are still great. The minimum target is one\nfaction, meaning four seats are needed. We are optimistic that we can\nhelp meet that target,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
He also mentioned several names from former PAN cadres prepared to\nrun, such as Aris Suranto in electoral district 1 and Nurhidayat in\nelectoral district 3, who have experience as council members.<\/p>\n
\u201cInsyaallah, if given ease, we can achieve a target of six seats,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n
PPP Sleman DPC Chairman Untung Basuki Rahmat welcomed the joining of\nthese cadres. He viewed it as a signal of increasing trust in PPP.<\/p>\n
\u201cFirst, we express our thanks. This means PPP is increasingly trusted\nand this adds strength to return to its glory days,\u201d said Untung.<\/p>\n
He stated that the target of one faction is the minimum target. PPP\nSleman, he said, targets filling seats in all electoral districts.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe rational target is all electoral districts filled. That way, we\ncan play a greater role, including in the upcoming regional elections,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>\n
Untung is optimistic that this addition of cadres will be significant\nbecause they have a clear mass base.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf they can bring back even half of the previous votes, that would\nbe enough to fill seats in all electoral districts. PPP actually has\nvote potential, just lacking a little,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He also revealed that his side is still awaiting additional cadres\nfrom various backgrounds, including community figures who will soon\njoin.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe target a total of around 200 people. Currently, there are about\n120, still waiting for around 80 more,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Untung emphasised that PPP is open to all groups without\ndiscrimination based on background.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe open ourselves to all segments. Sleman is a miniature of\nIndonesia, so we invite all elements of society to join,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In the declaration, several senior figures from former PAN also\njoined, including Sadar Narimo, Nurhidayat, and Aris Suranto. They are\nexpected to strengthen PPP\u2019s vote base in Sleman for the upcoming\nelections.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Sleman PAN DPD Chairman R Inoki Azmi P, when confirmed\nabout the many PAN cadres moving to PPP, responded briefly.<\/p>\n
