Director of SMP at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and\nTechnology (Kemdikbudristek) during Nadiem Makarim\u2019s era, Mulyatsyah,\nbecame angry in the courtroom in front of prosecutors. The former Nadiem\naide testified that he was furious because he did not know there were\nrules governing the laptop procurement project at Kemdikbudristek.<\/p>\n
This was stated by Mulyatsyah at the resumed hearing of the\nChromebook laptop procurement case at the Jakarta Anti-Corruption Court\n(Pengadilan Tipikor Jakarta) on Thursday, 5 March 2026. Sitting as a\ndefendant was Nadiem Anwar Makarim, former Minister of Education and\nCulture, Research and Technology. Mulyatsyah is also one of the\ndefendants in the case.<\/p>\n
The source of Mulyatsyah\u2019s anger when he spoke about Permendikbud\nNumber 11 of 2020. The regulation concerns laptop procurement using the\nWindows operating system.<\/p>\n
Permendikbud Number 11 of 2020 was issued by Nadiem on 24 February\n2020. The Permendikbud contains Operational Guidelines for the Special\nAllocation Fund (DAK) Physical for Education in the 2020 Budget Year,\nwhich covers DAK Physical funds for education at PAUD, SD, SMP, SMA,\nSKB, SLB, and SMK.<\/p>\n
\u201cSir, do you know, because it\u2019s an anomaly for me, this defendant\npreviously in February issued Permendikbud Number 11 of 2020 concerning\nthe Operational Guidelines for the Special Allocation Fund (DAK)\nPhysical for the Education sector, whose operating system is not Chrome\nbut Windows 10. Could you provide an explanation?\u201d asked the\nprosecutor.<\/p>\n
\u201cI knew at the time of the examination and I was very angry. But I\ncould not be angry with anyone. Because I feel, I am a region person who\nhas fought hard and worked well, with no wrongdoing, worst of all my\nbackground as a teacher. I taught for 10 years in a senior high school.\nSo my career, I started as a teacher. A teacher speaks truth and the\nheart speaks in line with actions,\u201d Mulyatsyah replied.<\/p>\n
The prosecutor followed up with questions about a remote meeting with\nNadiem on 5 June 2020.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring the Zoom Meeting on 5 June attended by the Defendant, was\nPermendikbud 11 of 2020 not disclosed?\u201d the prosecutor asked.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo, because the Zoom Meeting on the 5th was about the program\u2019s\ntechnical details,\u201d Mulyatsyah answered.<\/p>\n
Mulyatsyah is also a defendant in the matter. He is tried in a\nseparate dossier from Nadiem. In addition to having been the director of\nSMP, Mulyatsyah also served as the head of the Technical Team for\nReviewing the Results of the Technical Team for Analyzing the Needs for\nInformation and Communication Technology Learning Tools in Primary and\nSecondary Education.<\/p>\n
In this case, Nadiem is accused of corruption related to the\nChromebook laptop procurement during his tenure as Mendikbudristek. The\nproject is said to have caused state losses of Rp 2.1 trillion.<\/p>\n
