        "content": "<p>Former Secretary General of the People\u2019s Consultative Assembly (MPR)\nMa\u2019ruf Cahyono has completed questioning as a suspect in an alleged\ngratuity case at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) office in\nJakarta on Thursday evening (25\/6). Ma\u2019ruf arrived at the KPK\u2019s Red and\nWhite Building at around 09.30 WIB and finished the examination at 19.53\nWIB. When asked about the alleged criminal act, Ma\u2019ruf said the matter\nhad not yet been raised by investigators during today\u2019s session. Ma\u2019ruf\nexplained that he was only questioned about the scope of his duties as\nMPR Secretary General. \u201cI was only asked about my identity, as it\u2019s the\nfirst time. So, I was just asked about my duties,\u201d Ma\u2019ruf said at the\nKPK office in Jakarta on Thursday evening. This is Ma\u2019ruf\u2019s first\nexamination since the KPK named him a suspect on Thursday, 3 July 2025.\nHe emphasised that he will be cooperative in following the ongoing legal\nprocess. \u201cI will just wait and follow it. The main thing is that we\ncomply,\u201d he said. There has been no statement from the KPK regarding\nthis examination. During the investigation process, the KPK has\npreviously examined witnesses. Ma\u2019ruf has also been subject to a travel\nban preventing him from going abroad for six months, effective from 10\nJune 2025 to 10 December 2025. Meanwhile, KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo\nexplained that the examination is related to the procurement of several\ngoods and services at the MPR Secretariat General. \u201cToday\u2019s examination\nis in the capacity of Mr MC as a suspect. This is still related to\nevidence that investigators have already obtained, to be confirmed again\nand strengthened with additional evidence, regarding the process and\nmechanism of the procurement of goods and services carried out at the\nMPR RI,\u201d Budi said at his office in South Jakarta on Thursday evening.\n\u201cAlso related to the alleged receipt of money by Mr MC,\u201d he continued.\nBudi then explained the reason why investigators have not yet detained\nMa\u2019ruf. \u201cOf course, the investigation process and the collection of\nadditional evidence are still needed, so that later it is truly firm and\nstrong enough to proceed to phase 2, or transfer to prosecution,\u201d he\nsaid. Regarding the legal process being handled by the KPK, the MPR has\ncommented. MPR Secretary General Siti Fauziah claimed the case does not\ninvolve the leadership for either the 2019-2024 or 2024-2029 periods.\nSiti stated that the MPR respects the law enforcement process being\ncarried out by the KPK. She added that the MPR as an institution remains\ncommitted to maintaining integrity and transparency in carrying out\nstate duties. \u201cThe MPR RI respects the ongoing legal process and fully\nentrusts the KPK to follow up in accordance with its authority and\napplicable legal provisions,\u201d Siti said in the middle of last year.<\/p>",
