Former Gowa Regent Sitti Husniah Talenrang has again been named a\nsuspect in an alleged false testimony case connected to divorce\nproceedings. Her former husband, Muhammad Khairul Aco, reported the case\nto the South Sulawesi Police.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, HT [Husniah Talenrang] was named a suspect last week,\u201d South\nSulawesi Police public relations chief, Senior Commissioner Didik\nSupranoto, said on Friday (30 October).<\/p>\n
Although she has been named a suspect, investigators have not yet\nquestioned Husniah because she is ill, Didik said.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe was scheduled to be questioned last Thursday, but her lawyers\ninformed us that HT\u2019s health had deteriorated. We then checked with the\nhospital, and she was indeed ill,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Didik said Husniah\u2019s lawyers had asked for the questioning to be\nrescheduled for next week.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, last Thursday\u2019s questioning was cancelled. Her lawyers requested\nthat it take place on 5 November,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Husniah had previously been named a suspect in an alleged extortion\nand money-laundering case being handled by the South Sulawesi Police\u2019s\nSpecial Crimes Directorate. Didik said he did not yet know whether the\nsuspect\u2019s side had submitted a request for her release from\ndetention.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will check again whether one has been submitted. I haven\u2019t had a\nchance to ask the investigators yet,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Husniah remains in detention at the South Sulawesi Police detention\ncentre, following medical treatment.<\/p>\n
