        "content": "<p>Former councilors urged to return cars<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): The City Council expects 11 former councilors to<br>\nreturn their official cars so they can be used by the newly<br>\nelected councilors, an official said on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Council secretary Soemarto said he would write to the former<br>\ncouncilors to return the cars -- nine Timor sedans and three<br>\nToyota Corona sedans.<\/p>\n<p>\"However, I hope that they understand and return the cars soon<br>\nwithout waiting for our formal letters,\" Soemarto said.<\/p>\n<p>He declined to mention their names, however, the Timor sedans<br>\nwere used by heads of the council's five commissions and four<br>\nfactions, while the three Corona sedans were used by deputies of<br>\nthe council speaker.<\/p>\n<p>The five former commission heads, who ended their terms on<br>\nWednesday, are Hotma Tambunan of Administrative Affairs<br>\nCommission A, Djafar Badjeber of Economic Affairs Commission B,<br>\nAmarullah Asbah of Financial Affairs Commission C, Ali Wongso<br>\nSinaga of Development Affairs Commission D, and Soeparmo of<br>\nSocial Welfare Affairs Commission E.<\/p>\n<p>The four former faction heads are Fatommy Asaari of the Golkar<br>\nParty, Achmad Suaidy of the United Development Party (PPP),<br>\nLukman F. Mokoginta of the Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI) and<br>\nSumekar K.W. of the armed forces (then known as ABRI) faction.<\/p>\n<p>The three deputy speakers were Sugeng Suprijatna, Rusjdi Hamka<br>\nand M. Ade Supriatna. Edy Waluyo of the ABRI faction was the<br>\ncouncil speaker.<\/p>\n<p>Outgoing councilors earlier asked the city administration to<br>\nhelp cover their debts, some of them ranging Rp 50 million<br>\n(US$6,700) to Rp 75 million, at city-owned Bank DKI.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Sutiyoso rejected the demand, saying that the request<br>\nhad no legal basis.
