        "content": "<p>Former boxing champion arrested for drug dealing<\/p>\n<p>Abdul Khalik, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>Former world boxing champion Ellias Pical, 48, was arrested early<br>\non Wednesday for selling ecstasy pills to police detectives in a<br>\nnightclub in Taman Sari, West Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>City Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Tjiptono said that Ellias was<br>\napprehended together with a female friend identified as<br>\nLisdianah, 33, at 00:30 a.m. at Miles disco while offering for<br>\nsale three ecstasy pills to undercover police officers.<\/p>\n<p>\"Lisdianah was the middlewoman who led us to Ellias. He<br>\noffered three ecstasy pills to our undercover detectives for Rp<br>\n300,000,\" Tjiptono said.<\/p>\n<p>Tjiptono said that Ellias, a resident of Kunciran, Tangerang,<br>\nBanten province, had been detained at city police headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>Ellias, who works at the disco as a security guard, was the<br>\nfirst Indonesian to become a world boxing champion after beating<br>\nKorean boxer Judo Chun in 1985.<\/p>\n<p>With his strong left hook, he defended his title after<br>\nsuccessively beating six title challengers.<\/p>\n<p>In 1989, he lost his title to Colombian Juan Polo Perez in a<br>\nfight in Virginia, the United States and failed to regain his<br>\ntitle in the rematch the following year.<\/p>\n<p>During his recent interview with The Jakarta Post, he said<br>\nfinding a steady job after his boxing career ended had not been<br>\neasy.<\/p>\n<p>He has also complained of the government \"dumping him\" after<br>\nhe lost his title.<\/p>\n<p>Ellias, who was born in Ambon, Maluku in 1957, dropped out of<br>\nelementary school to train as a boxer.<\/p>\n<p>Tjiptono said that earlier they also arrested two other drug<br>\ndealers, identified as AAH, 24, and Dede Jaenudin, 25, in the<br>\nAthena nightclub in Tambora, West Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>\"They seized 16 ecstasy pills from them.
