Forests destruction in Lampung<\/p>\n
BANDARLAMPUNG, Lampung: The Lampung provincial office of the
\nEnvironmental Waste Management called on new State Minister of
\nthe Environment Nabiel Makarim to give serious attention to
\ndeforestation in the province.<\/p>\n
Rachmat Abdullah, chairman of the Environmental Waste
\nManagement office, said Nabiel, known as an environmental
\nactivist, should design a new national program to help preserve
\nthe environment and to stop people from illegaly occupying the
\nforests.<\/p>\n
He called on the central government to allocate part of the
\nreforestation funds to help repair the deforested areas and to
\nmaintain the protected forest in the province.<\/p>\n
He applauded Nabiel's appointment as State Minister of the
\nEnvironment because he has spent much of his time in
\nenvironmental affairs.<\/p>",
