        "content": "<p>Forestry officials graft suspects<\/p>\n<p>Puji Santoso, The Jakarta Post, Pekanbaru<\/p>\n<p>The Prosecutor's Office has named the head of the Kampar Forestry<br>\nand Plantations Office (Kadishutbun), Kamril Nur, as a suspect in<br>\nthe embezzlement of Rp 3.8 billion (US$422,000) allocated for the<br>\ndevelopment of an oil palm plantation in Kampar regency.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors have also named the manager of the project,<br>\nRepanis, as a suspect.<\/p>\n<p>\"They were charged as suspects after being questioned by<br>\nprosecutors for a second time, and will be detained soon,\" Enita<br>\nMenhar, a Riau Prosecutor's Office spokesman, said on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The two would be detained on the grounds that they had not<br>\nbeen cooperative during the investigation, said Enita.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Edward, an assistant with the Riau Prosecutor's<br>\nOffice Special Crimes Unit, confirmed that the two suspects would<br>\nbe detained. \"Both suspects will be held to expedite the<br>\ninvestigation process, and we are preparing detention orders for<br>\nboth of them,\" said Edward.<\/p>\n<p>The corruption case came to light after the Riau prosecutors<br>\nunearthed irregularities in the agribusiness project in Kampar<br>\nregency in 2003.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the project blueprint, the government allocated Rp<br>\n3.8 billion for the planting of oil palms on 700 hectares of<br>\nland. An additional sum of Rp 1.7 billion was provided for the<br>\nmaintenance of the oil palms.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects claimed that the project had been completed<br>\nrecently, but when checked by the Kampar audit agency and the<br>\nprosecutors, the palm oil project was found to only extend to 150<br>\nhectares of land rather than 700 hectares originally planned.<\/p>",
