        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni has affirmed\nthat forestry carbon trading in Indonesia must uphold values of openness\nand inclusivity. \u201cBased on the President\u2019s directive (Prabowo Subianto),\nthis carbon trading is inclusive and open, not only to private parties\nbut also involving communities, with the ultimate aim of preserving\nforests while improving community welfare,\u201d said Forestry Minister Raja\nAntoni during a press conference at the Dr.\u00a0Soedjarwo Auditorium,\nManggala Wanabakti Building, Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut) RI,\nJakarta, on Wednesday. This value, he continued, is a mandate enshrined\nin Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No.\u00a0110 of 2025 on the\nImplementation of Economic Value Instruments for Carbon and National\nGreenhouse Gas Emission Control. This regulation is further strengthened\nby the Minister of Forestry Regulation No.\u00a06 of 2026 on the Procedures\nfor Carbon Trading through Greenhouse Gas Emission Offsets in the\nForestry Sector, which was promulgated on 13 April 2026. \u201cThis\nregulation also emphasises one important point, where forestry carbon\ntrading must not become a closed and exclusive space,\u201d stated the\nForestry Minister. Through recognition of social forestry schemes and\ncustomary forests, he said communities are positioned as legitimate and\nequal participants in the system. \u201cThose who guard the forests, maintain\nland cover, and care for ecosystems now have the opportunity to share in\nthe economic benefits from carbon,\u201d said Raja Antoni. He views this as\none form of the state\u2019s appreciation for grassroots forest guardians, as\nwell as a tangible manifestation of social justice in the process of\ntransitioning to a green economy. \u201cI want to reaffirm that this is an\nopen carbon trading process that not only involves the private sector in\ncarbon markets but also farmers in social forestry and indigenous\ncommunities,\u201d he stated. In addition, the government also seeks to\nensure that the economic value of carbon is an important part of efforts\nto increase the economic value of forests and serves as an incentive for\nforests to remain preserved, ecosystems maintained, and communities to\nreceive fair benefits. \u201cIn the future, carbon must become a sustainable\nfunding source for conservation, rehabilitation, ecosystem restoration,\nand sustainable forest management.
