Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi has asked aviation and shipping\noperators in Kalimantan to adjust their travel schedules in response to\nhaze caused by forest and land fires, in order to maintain safety.<\/p>\n
Dudy said operational adjustments are made by considering conditions\non the ground, especially when the haze reduces visibility to the point\nthat it could potentially disrupt the safety of flights or sea travel\nserving the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo far, the transport sector in Kalimantan has been adjusted to the\nhaze conditions caused by forest and land fires,\u201d Dudy said in Jakarta\non Saturday, 29 August 2026.<\/p>\n
According to Dudy, operators are asked to assess weather developments\nregularly before operating their fleets, including considering delaying\nor cancelling journeys if conditions are deemed to no longer meet safety\nstandards.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf the smoke is really disruptive, of course we ask operators,\nespecially aviation and shipping operators, to consider whether their\njourneys should be delayed or cancelled,\u201d the Minister said.<\/p>\n
He stressed that the safety of passengers, crew and all transport\nusers must be the main consideration in every operational decision, even\nthough the public\u2019s mobility needs must still be maintained as well as\npossible.<\/p>\n
\u201cSafety must be our main concern,\u201d he emphasised.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, the Ministry of Transport has confirmed that so far no\nairports in Kalimantan have been closed due to the impact of the haze,\nwhile adjustments have only been made to flight schedules according to\nweather conditions.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo far we have not closed any airports, only flights have been\nadjusted,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
Dudy explained that flight and shipping operations continue when the\nweather permits, so that inter-regional connectivity as well as the\ndistribution of goods and public necessities can continue to run\nsafely.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Transport continues to monitor the development of the\nhaze in Kalimantan together with transport operators so that every\noperational adjustment is carried out quickly, precisely, and\nprioritises safety without neglecting smooth service.<\/p>\n
