        "content": "<p>Foreigners target Singapore homes<\/p>\n<p>SINGAPORE: Foreigners accelerated their Singapore home buying<br>\nspree in the first quarter with Indonesians and Malaysians still<br>\noccupying the top two spots respectively, DTZ Research data<br>\nshowed on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Citizens from the United Kingdom and India also emerged as a<br>\nmajor buying force, overtaking those from China.<\/p>\n<p>Foreigners lodged 17.2 percent more caveats for private homes<br>\nduring the first three months than they did in the previous<br>\nquarter, after two consecutive quarters of declines.<\/p>\n<p>Caveats are claims lodged on a property.<\/p>\n<p>The breakdown published in The Business Times revealed<br>\nIndonesians bought 106 private homes, or 22 percent of the 483<br>\nunits taken up by foreigners.<\/p>\n<p>Malaysians purchased 89 units or 18.4 percent. Buyers from the<br>\nUK purchased 61 units and those from India 50. In fifth place<br>\nwere Chinese, followed by Australians. -- DPA<\/p>",
