Foreigners held for illegal entry<\/p>\n
MANILA (AP): The Philippine navy has detained 11 foreigners
\nwho illegally entered the Philippines aboard a boat laden with
\nsmuggled canned goods from Indonesia, officials said on Monday.<\/p>\n
Military officials said 36 Filipinos were also aboard the
\nmotor boat Santos Sa, which was sighted by a navy patrol vessel
\non Sunday off Glan town in southern Sarangani province. The boat
\ncame from Manado, Indonesia.<\/p>\n
Navy authorities turned over the Filipinos and foreigners to
\ncoast guard and immigration officials for questioning on Monday
\nin the southern port city of General Santos, southern Philippine
\nmilitary command spokesman Horacio Lapinid said.<\/p>\n
The Filipinos, mostly illegal workers in Indonesia, were
\nreleased after questioning but authorities said they would charge
\nthe foreigners with illegal entry so they could be deported,
\nLapinid said.<\/p>\n
The names of the foreigners, consisting of an American, two
\nBritons, three Indonesians, a Swiss, two Germans and two Dutch
\nnationals, were not immediately available. Lapinid said the 11
\ncarried passports but did not have clearance to enter the
\ncountry.<\/p>",
