Foreigner arrested for heroin possession<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Police arrested a Nigerian at Hanover Hotel in
\nTanah Abang in Central Jakarta on Monday for allegedly possessing
\n100 grams of heroin, an officer said.<\/p>\n
Capt. Gusti Ketut Gunawa of the Jakarta Police detectives unit
\nidentified the suspect as Christian Chinedu alias John Osagie.<\/p>\n
"Chinedu was arrested after he offered the heroin to an
\nundercover detective," Gusti said, adding that Chinedu had been
\nunder police surveillance since his arrival in the city two weeks
\nago.<\/p>\n
Gusti said that Chinedu, allegedly a member of an
\ninternational drug syndicate, was listed as wanted by the police.<\/p>\n
It is believed he has links with local drug traders, Gusti
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
However, Chinedu denied ownership of the heroin, estimated to
\nhave a street value of Rp 19 million. "It's not mine. It belongs
\nto Roy, my friend," he said.<\/p>\n
Chinedu said it was his first visit to Jakarta. "I've never
\ntraveled here before."<\/p>\n
Chinedu is being detained at city police headquarters for
