Foreign investors in BSD project<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): French company Carefour and South Korean firm
\nLotte plan, respectively, to build a large-scale wholesale center
\nand a shopping and recreation center at the Bumi Serpong Damai
\n(BSD) satellite city in Tangerang.<\/p>\n
Budiarsa Sastrawinata, president of PT Bumi Serpong Damai,
\nsaid in a statement yesterday that the construction of Carefour's
\nwholesale center, billed to be the largest in Indonesia, is
\nexpected to start early next year.<\/p>\n
The project will begin after the 13.1 kilometer toll road
\nlinking Jakarta and Serpong has been completed.<\/p>\n
Budiarsa said that Lotte's shopping and recreation center, to
\nbe named Hyper Mall Lotte World BSD, will be built on a 325,000
\nsquare meter plot of land in BSD's central business district.<\/p>\n
Preparations for the construction of the center, designed to
\nbe the largest in Asia, are currently being made.<\/p>\n
In a bid to attract more foreign investors, BSD will take part
\nin an international property exhibition in Singapore later this
\nmonth, he said.<\/p>\n
To date, 15 domestic investors have developed their businesses
\nin BSD.<\/p>\n
\"The investors have started the construction of their
\nfactories and offices,\" he said. \"The projects are expected to be
\ncompleted within one to two years.\"<\/p>\n
Budiarsa said the 15 investors were: PT Ben Meyer Indonesia,
\nImperial, PT Bauma Smarti Teknika, PT Abdi Bangsa, PT Dupalindo
\nPerkasa, PT Fielder Asia, PT Paul & Co. Indonesia, PT Festo
\nIndonesia, PT Citra Kharisma Bunda, PT Induktorindo Utama, Hans
\nJohan, PT Yasulor Indonesia, PT Merck Indonesia, PT Dharmawan
\nWiganda and PT Ega Takelindo Prima.<\/p>\n
Budiarsa said the entrance of the 15 private domestic
\ninvestors had helped raise the self-sufficiency of the satellite
\ncity.<\/p>\n
\"The self-sufficiency rate in BSD has reached about 30 percent
\nat present and is expected to further increase to more than 50
\npercent within the next two years.\"<\/p>\n
He said that besides industrial investors there were others
\ndealing with services, including Auto 2000 car showroom, Hino
\nvehicle showroom, Bank Danamon, Bank Central Dagang, Central
\nCenter Indonesia, German International School and Medika BSD
\nhospital.<\/p>\n
The development of the BSD satellite city is expected to be
\ncompleted in 2014 with a total population of about 600,000,
