        "content": "<p>Foreign capital in Myanmar<\/p>\n<p>YANGON (Reuter): Firms from 18 countries have invested a total<br>\nof US$2.59 billion in Myanmar since 1988, Myanmarese Finance<br>\nMinister Brigadier General Win Tin, said.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the opening of a foreign bank representative<br>\noffice, he said the government had approved 130 ventures<br>\ninvolving foreign investment since market reforms to a state-<br>\ndominated economy began in 1988.<\/p>\n<p>\"Foreign investors from Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong<br>\nKong and Korea have deepened their links with our country,\" he<br>\nsaid in a speech published in Yangon newspapers yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Some Yangon diplomats say foreigners are still wary of making<br>\nlarge investments in Myanmar because of poor infrastructure, an<br>\novervalued official currency and political uncertainty.<\/p>",
