        "content": "<p>Food supplies a major concern for RI<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Minister of Production and Distribution Hartarto<br>\nsaid yesterday that food and power supplies are critical issues<br>\nthat Indonesia will face over the next decade,<\/p>\n<p>Even though Indonesia has posted 7 percent economic growth<br>\nper year for the last 28 years, 14 million people still live<br>\nbelow the poverty line, Hartarto told a Queensland trade<br>\ndelegation.<\/p>\n<p>Queensland Economic Development Minister Dough Slack, who led<br>\nthe delegation, said that Indonesia&apos;s drive to sustain economic<br>\ngrowth and lift the people&apos;s average income provides<br>\nopportunities for Queensland exporters.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Queensland and Indonesia have many things in common. We can<br>\nassist in exporting our agricultural products and services,<br>\namong other exports, to Indonesia to assist in their drive for<br>\neconomic growth,&quot; Slack said.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives from the Queensland Sugar Corporation,<br>\nBundaberg Sugar, James Hardie Industries, Evans Deakin Industries<br>\nas well as the hotel services and legal sectors are attending<br>\nthe six-day mission to Jakarta and Central Java.<\/p>\n<p>The Queensland Sugar Corporation said it is ready to sell more<br>\nsugar to Indonesia&apos;s refineries, while Bundaberg Sugar said it is<br>\nready to provide expertise in the establishment of sugar mills.<\/p>\n<p>At the meeting, Hartarto said that Indonesia is planning to<br>\nrelocate its sugar industry from the island of Java to less<br>\npopulated areas in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Delegation member Trevor Perett offered Hartarto the<br>\nQueensland government&apos;s assistance in mounting an inspection tour<br>\nof Queensland&apos;s primary industries sector.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, AUSTA Electric has moved a step closer to a<br>\nmemorandum of understanding with Indonesia&apos;s state-owned power<br>\ngeneration and transmission company, PLN, following talks between<br>\nthe two companies yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Slack said that AUSTA is positioning itself to assist<br>\nIndonesia in generating much needed electricity for the country.<br>\n(hen)<\/p>",
