The government has ensured that national food stocks, including in\nSouth Kalimantan Province, remain secure with relatively stable prices.\nThe Regional Police (Polda) is cooperating with Bulog South Kalimantan\nto roll out the Cheap Food Movement (GPM) simultaneously across 13\ndistricts and cities in the province.<\/p>\n
\u201cNationally, and similarly in South Kalimantan, food stocks are in a\nsafe condition. The cheap food movement is being carried out\nsimultaneously throughout Indonesia to maintain price stability ahead of\nthe celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijra,\u201d said Deputy Head of South\nKalimantan Regional Police Brigadier General Golkar Pangarso Rahardjo,\nwhilst overseeing the cheap food movement activities at the Bulog\nwarehouse area at Pal 21 in Banjarmasin City on Friday, 13 March.<\/p>\n
In South Kalimantan, the Police\u2019s GPM activities for the community\nare being held at 14 locations in each district and city, as well as at\nthe Regional Police headquarters at the Bulog warehouse area. \u201cToday we\nare providing 20 tonnes of SPHP rice and 4,000 litres of cooking oil of\nvarious brands, plus sugar and other products. Of course, at prices\nsignificantly cheaper than current market rates,\u201d said Pangarso.<\/p>\n
Likewise, the Head of Bulog\u2019s South Kalimantan Branch Office,\nMuhammad Akbar Said, stated that food stocks in South Kalimantan are in\na safe and adequate condition. \u201cThis activity is a form of collaboration\nbetween the Police and Bulog in implementing the coordinated cheap food\nmovement. In South Kalimantan, our stock reaches 19,800 tonnes of rice,\nwhich is very secure, while cooking oil is at 61,000 litres,\u201d he\nexplained.<\/p>\n
According to media observations, the Cheap Food Movement organised by\nthe Regional Police and Bulog South Kalimantan has received enthusiastic\nparticipation from residents in the Banjarmasin City area. Some time\nbefore the event was launched, residents had already queued and crowded\nthe activity location, and within approximately one hour the food stocks\nsold by the committee were completely sold out. The food commodities\nwere sold at prices far below market rates.<\/p>\n
Erna, 30, a resident of Landasan Ulin, stated that residents were\ngreatly helped by the GPM activity, amid continuously rising prices of\nbasic necessities ahead of Eid.<\/p>\n
In another development, the Police have given assurances regarding\nprice stability and the availability of Essential Basic Goods\n(Bapokting) ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijra. Through the Food Task\nForce, the Police are conducting strict supervision from upstream to\ndownstream to anticipate price stability and supply availability.\nCurrently, national rice stocks have reached 3.7 million tonnes,\nequivalent to 144% of national demand.<\/p>\n
SPHP rice was sold at Rp58,000 per 5-kilogram package. Sugar was then\nsold at Rp15,000 per kilogram, cooking oil at Rp25,000 for 2 litres, and\nchicken eggs at Rp10,000 for 10 eggs or Rp1,000 per egg.<\/p>\n
The GPM programme was followed by 35 districts and cities in Central\nJava Province simultaneously to maintain price stability for food\ncommodities.<\/p>\n
The Cheap Food Movement ran from 4\u201311 March 2026 at eight points in\ndistricts and cities in Central Sulawesi.<\/p>\n
