        "content": "<p>Former Governor of DKI Jakarta (2007-2012) Fauzi Bowo (Foke) has\nstated that Jakarta\u2019s identity, born and raised as a port city, must be\npreserved as the foundation for designing the region\u2019s future\ndevelopment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJakarta\u2019s development must not forget its historical roots as a\ntrade gateway,\u201d said Foke during the \u2018Jakarta as a Port City\u2019 seminar\norganised by the North Jakarta Port City Community Forum on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>He assessed that Jakarta has become a centre of maritime activity\nwith a strategic role for Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>He invited all participants to recall Jakarta\u2019s history, which grew\nand developed thanks to the strength of its port.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, this identity must continue to be preserved as the\nfoundation for designing Jakarta\u2019s future development.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, he said, the port area, particularly Tanjung Priok, holds a\nhighly important position in supporting national economic growth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt therefore requires adaptive governance supported by continuous\ninnovation,\u201d said Foke.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor of North Jakarta Fredy Setiawan considered\nthe strategic ideas conveyed by Foke to further affirm the importance of\nTanjung Priok\u2019s position as a strategic area with a vital role for both\nJakarta and Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, future development challenges require a spirit of\ninnovation and collaboration in delivering governance that is adaptive,\neffective, and oriented towards public service.<\/p>\n<p>Fredy said Tanjung Priok is not merely an administrative area, but\nalso the heart of the economy and Indonesia\u2019s main gateway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, we must continue to bring forward various innovations in\nurban governance that are resilient, efficient, and able to answer the\nchallenges of the times, without reducing the quality of services to the\ncommunity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said that through the momentum of Jakarta\u2019s 499th anniversary, the\nNorth Jakarta City Government hopes to foster a spirit of collaboration,\ninnovation, and the strengthening of Jakarta\u2019s identity as a port\ncity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis must continue to be the foundation in realising a Jakarta that\nis increasingly advanced, inclusive, and competitive, particularly in\nthe Tanjung Priok area as the main hub of the national economy,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>",
