FIABCI award for
\nAncol Dreamland<\/p>\n
Ancol Dreamland, one of the city's largest tourist
\nattractions, received the \"FIABCI Prix d'Excellence\" for the
\nleisure category from the world real estate organization
\nFederation Internationale des Administration de Biens at
\nCounceils Immobiliers (FIABCI).<\/p>\n
Dreamland's management was quoted yesterday by Antara as
\nsaying that the FIABCI public relations office in Paris sent news
\non Wednesday of the victory to Ciputra, the president of PT
\nPembangunan Jaya Ancol, which is managing the resort.<\/p>\n
The award will be presented at the FIABCI congress in Chicago,
\nthe United States, from May 28 to June 2.<\/p>\n
According to the report, Ancol Dreamland defeated worthy
\ncompetition from Singapore, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, Oslo and Prague
\nin the leisure category.<\/p>\n
Ancol was judged by the team of judges to be an important and
\nfirst class tourist resort with sound environmental programs.<\/p>\n
Ten million people visit Ancol Dreamland every year, making it

PDI to hold
\nfarewell ceremony<\/p>\n
The Jakarta Chapter of the Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI)
\nwill hold a religious farewell party on Saturday at the Graha
\nPurna Yudha building on Jl. Sudirman for top party executives who
\nwill depart for Mecca, Saudi Arabia on haj pilgrimages.<\/p>\n
Prominent Islamic preacher KH Zainuddin MZ will give a sermon
\nduring the ceremony.<\/p>\n
\"The farewell ceremony will be held in connection with the
\ndepartures of several key PDI figures on haj pilgrimages to the
\nHoly Land (Mecca),\" H. Hamdan Akil, chairman of the ceremony
\norganizing committee told reporters yesterday.<\/p>\n
Aziz Buang, another member of the organizing committee, said
\nthe departing party executives this year include PDI Chairwoman
\nMegawati Soekarnoputri and Chairman of the Jakarta Chapter of the
\nPDI, MAS Alex Asmasoebrata.<\/p>\n
\"The farewell party is designed not only for PDI members but
\nfor outsiders as well. We sent invitations to executives from
\nother political organizations, such as Golkar and the United
\nDevelopment Party, as well as ranking officials of the city
\nadministration,\" noted Aziz.<\/p>\n
PDI, a fusion of the nationalist parties and the Christian-
\nbased political parties, has been plagued by internal party
\ndifferences.<\/p>\n
\"The religious events are expected to quell internal dissent

Traffic reroute
\nin Cideng<\/p>\n
From yesterday through Aug. 5, road users are required to
\navoid the slow lane on the southern side of Jl. Kyai Caringin
\nfrom the Caringin-Biak intersection to the Caringin-Cideng
\nintersection, due to construction work on water mains along Jl.
\nCaringin and Jl. Biak, West Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Motorists are also urged to avoid the Hasyim Ashari-Biak
\nintersection which has also been designated a working area by the
\nconstruction team.<\/p>\n
This announcement was made yesterday by J.P. Sepang, the head

Voucher system
\nintroduced<\/p>\n
The voucher system, applied to payments for transporting
\ncontainers, has a positive impact, Herry Y.C. Rotty, the chief of
\nthe special unit for transportation at the Tanjung Priok port of
\nOrganda DKI (The City Land Transportation Organization), said
\nhere yesterday.<\/p>\n
The new system, introduced last Monday, makes it impossible
\nfor users of container transportation services to delay making
\npayments, Herry said.<\/p>\n
Under the system, users are required to get vouchers from the
\nstate-owned Bank Bukopin, otherwise they will not be served,
\nHerry said.<\/p>\n
Under the new system, drivers of container trucks will still
\nreceive 'pocket money' amounting to 20 to 30 percent of
\ntransportation fees from the transportation companies, Herry
\nsaid, adding that cash payments are not known under the voucher
\nsystem.<\/p>\n
Upwards of 1,000 containers have thus far been transported
