        "content": "<p>\u201cAs a rising power in the Global South, BRICS has the position and\nresponsibility to take a more active role in maintaining peace and\npreserving the rules that underpin global stability,\u201d he said in a\nstatement quoted on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Sugiyono conveyed the message at BRICS Foreign Ministers\u2019 Meeting in\nNew Delhi, India, on Thursday (May 14).<\/p>\n<p>According to him, BRICS\u2019 key strength lies in amplifying the voices\nof developing countries in shaping the future global order. He reminded\nBRICS to always uphold international law fairly, consistently, and\nwithout double standards, as no country is above the law.<\/p>\n<p>He also specifically addressed the deaths of four Indonesian\npeacekeepers serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon\n(UNIFIL) and called for full accountability for those responsible.\nIndonesia emphasized the safety of UN peacekeeping personnel should not\nbe compromised.<\/p>\n<p>Related news: Indonesia, Russia deepen industrial ties as trade and\ninvestment grow<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Sugiono highlighted the importance of global governance\nreform to address current challenges, including reforming the global\ntrading system to become more inclusive, open, and non-discriminatory;\nwith the World Trade Organization (WTO) as its primary foundation.<\/p>\n<p>In line with the theme of India\u2019s chairmanship, Indonesia welcomed\nthe strengthening of the New Development Bank (NDB) and confirmed that\nit was completing its internal process for joining.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s BRICS is being held under India\u2019s chairmanship with the\ntheme \u201cBuilding for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and\nSustainability\u201d.
