Flying high in Jakarta<\/p>\n

Notions that most African countries are poor, or less-developed
\nAsian countries, like Myanmar or Cambodia, have no money to
\ndevelop their countries would seem to be wrong, at least if the
\nlines of jets parked at Halim Perdanakusumah airport in East
\nJakarta are anything to go by.<\/p>\n
Dozens of either Boeing or Airbus jets are parked in the
\neastern part of the airport under heavy security provided by the
\nPresidential Guard, the Indonesian Air Force, and airport
\npersonnel.<\/p>\n
First Lieutenant Aswien, an officer based at the airport, said
\nthat all the presidents that landed at Halim Perdanakusumah had
\ntraveled by jet, and most of the planes were waiting in the
\nairport to take them home again.<\/p>\n
\"Several planes flew home immediately and will come back later
\nto pick up delegates, but most will be staying here at least
\nuntil Monday,\" he told The Jakarta Post.<\/p>\n
From a brief inspection, there would seem to be little
\ndifference between the jets belonging to the rich countries and
\nthose of the poorer countries.<\/p>\n
Several presidents of African countries, such as Zimbabwe,
\nNigeria and Tanzania, used Boeings while other African leaders,
\nincluding those of Algeria and Sudan, traveled to Jakarta on
\nAirbuses.<\/p>\n
Less-developed Asian countries, such as Vietnam, Myanmar and
\nCambodia, preferred Airbuses while others, including Nepal and
\nIran, used Boeings.<\/p>\n
Besides planes the from the less-developed countries, two
\nplanes with Japanese flags, and one each with Chinese and
\nMalaysian flags were also seen among the planes.<\/p>",
