        "content": "<p>The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) closed the M 7.7\nFlores Earthquake SAR Operation on Saturday (12\/09\/2026) at 18:00 WITA.\nThis closure also marks the end of the emergency response period, which\nhad been extended from 29 August to 12 September 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The Head of the Maumere SAR Office, acting as the SAR Mission\nCoordinator (SMC), Fathur Rahman, stated that the decision was made\nafter considering the decline in aftershock activity and the change in\ndisaster management status in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) towards a\nrecovery transition phase.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 7.7 SR Earthquake SAR Operation is officially closed today, 12\nSeptember 2026, coinciding with the end of the emergency response\nextension from 29 August to 12 September 2026,\u201d said Fathur,\nrepresenting the Head of Basarnas, Air Marshal Muhammad Syafii.<\/p>\n<p>Basarnas, along with the Joint SAR Team, has been conducting\noperations since the first day of the earthquake on 15 August 2026. The\noperation involved the TNI-Polri (Indonesian National Armed Forces and\nNational Police), local governments, the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI),\nvolunteers, and various other SAR resources.<\/p>\n<p>The joint team carried out searches, assistance, and evacuations of\nvictims in several affected areas. Basarnas also deployed Dauphin\nhelicopters to support medical evacuations and mobilisation during\nvictim handling. Fathur emphasised that the closure of the operation\ndoes not eliminate the possibility of reopening if required.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf there are requests for evacuation or the discovery of victims in\nthe future, the Flores Earthquake SAR Operation will be reopened\naccording to the needs and conditions on the ground,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He expressed his appreciation to the entire Joint SAR Team for their\ndedication and synergy during the operation. \u201cThe synergy of the Joint\nSAR Team is a tangible manifestation of the unity of all SAR elements in\ncarrying out this humanitarian mission,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>",
