        "content": "<p>Floods wash out rice crops<\/p>\n<p>TANGERANG (JP): The rice supply in Tangerang Regency will be<br>\nseverely affected by failure of harvests on 600 hectares of paddy<br>\nfields, destroyed by severe flooding last week.<\/p>\n<p>Head of the regency's agriculture office Yodhi Rosidi said<br>\nyesterday the crops, which were ready for harvesting, were<br>\ndestroyed by the regency's biggest recorded floods which hit June<br>\n5.<\/p>\n<p>With water levels reaching up to 1.5 meters in height, the<br>\nflooding inundated five regencies, namely Balaraja, Pasar Kemis,<br>\nTigaraksa, Rajeg, Mauk and Kronjo, Yodhi said.<\/p>\n<p>Without giving details on the quantity of rice stocks held at<br>\nthe regency, he said his office had asked for aid from the<br>\nprovincial government in the form of rice seedlings for the next<br>\nplanting season.<\/p>\n<p>\"We have also requested assistance in both rice and medicines<br>\nfor those affected,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to his office's data, paddy fields in the regency<br>\ncovered 41,285 hectares, of which about 13,000 hectares could not<br>\nbe cultivated during the dry season.
