Floods return to Palu, destroying homes, crops<\/p>\n
PALU, Central Sulawesi: A fresh flash flood hit Morowali
\nregency in Central Sulawesi on Tuesday, destroying hundreds of
\nhomes and inundating more than 1,000 hectares of paddy fields
\nabout to be harvested.<\/p>\n
At least five villages in the Petasia subdistrict, including
\nTogo Mulya and Bunta, which are inhabited by migrants, were
\nswamped with two-meter-deep floodwater, forcing residents to flee
\ntheir homes.<\/p>\n
Yalbert Tulaka, a spokesman for the local administration, said
\nthe flood also inundated the road, cutting off transportation
\nbetween Onoputeh and Mondowe.<\/p>\n
\"This has made it difficult for the local administration to
\nsend food and medicine to the flood victims, but we are trying to
\naccommodate them at makeshift shelters to speed up channeling the
\nsupplies.\"<\/p>\n
No casualties were reported. A one-and-a-half-year-old child
\nfrom Oneputeh village was found alive after he was swept away by
