Ciledug Raya in South Jakarta was<br>\nflooded after the smallest rainfall causing a tremendous slowing<br>\ndown of the traffic and created lengthy jams.<\/p>\n<p>I recently saw during such a flooding that the cause was the<br>\nmalfunctioning of the gullies leading to the drainage system.<br>\nThese inlets were full of sand and perhaps garbage. A number of<br>\npersons were trying valiantly to help the water find a way into<br>\nthe sewerage by using poles but apparently to no avail.<\/p>\n<p>The Jakarta city administration should take immediate action<br>\nto repair the clogged drains, otherwise the bitumen of the road<br>\nwill soon be eroded, another potential condition for traffic<br>\ncongestion.<\/p>\n<p>RAHDIANSYAH<\/p>\n<p>Tangerang, West Java<\/p>",
